CHAIL

Chail, with its undulating verdant slopes, dense cover of deodar and pine trees, and breath-taking views of the mountains, is one of Himachal Pradesh's hidden gems. Established as a summer retreat by the former Maharaja of Patiala, this relatively untouched hill station is a scenic splendour that is surrounded by magnificent mountain peaks. Panoramic views that look like pictures straight out of a travel magazine make Chail a photographer’s delight; colonial buildings amidst pristine surroundings, reflect the serene ambience of this beautiful destination set amidst nature’s bounty.

While Chail is most popular as a day trip from Shimla, the destination by itself has plenty to offer – though we can assure you this quaint town and its idyllic surroundings are mesmerising enough to keep you enchanted for more than a few days. Once you’re done immersing yourself in the natural beauty of Chail, explore the culture and sights such as the Chail Palace and Chail sanctuary, or experience a nature walk, attempt some horse riding or go bird watching amidst the unique eco-diversity of this mountain town.

Chail is a lesser-known destination that offers a much-needed escape from the crowds of Shimla. It is a place to unwind, relax, and breathe in the fresh, unpolluted air. Chail has a more temperate climate compared to Kufri and Shimla, making it an ideal destination to visit throughout the year.
